This was an older unfinished painting that I had started in a workshop. I had nothing to work with so I went to the shapes that I liked. Email me for more information on this painting at kgrevich@gmail.com. Thank you!

Comments:

I did not know the work or the artist Modigliani. I agree this painting does have that feel to it. How tragic is his death and of his love Hebuterne who also killed herself after his death. I will have to do some more research on his works… thank you!

This is a wonderful painting. I kept coming back to it when I opened the Daily Painters Gallery this morning. It’s very “Modigliani”. It’s interesting to go back to our old ones and sometimes do some re-work. Occasionally we were “on to something” and then moved away. But painting is like that – I think our main “themes” and “approaches” keep coming back. What I like about this is its simplicity within some very interesting curved forms – the chair reflecting the pose of the woman. I love her elongated arms and the impasto way in which you have treated her vest. The colours too are absolutely spot on.
